Horizon Lectures is a series of public talks with the simple aim of bringing remarkable stories of adventure, exploration and discovery to our audience. Their Adventure Fund aims to encourage and enable people to undertake their own adventurous trips, ideas and expeditions.
The Scottish Arctic Club
The Scottish Arctic Club has an Expedition Fund from which it makes financial awards to encourage young people to explore the Arctic. We are hugely thankful for to the committee for choosing us and grateful for their support!
The DigitalGlobe Foundation
The DigitalGlobe Foundation helps make our world a better place by educating and inspiring users to apply innovative geospatial imagery to address significant local, national and global challenges. We’ve been awarded a grant for high-res imagery from and we’ll use it to plan a safe route avoiding crevasses & other hazards.
Satmap Systems Ltd
Satmap Systems Ltd is a UK based company founded in October 2005. Since 2005 they have developed 2 high end handheld GPS devices that are designed for activities such as walking, hiking, cycling and off-roading. They have kindly offered to loan us some of their GPS units loaded with all the Stauning Alps mapping information we need!
Be-Well Expedition Foods
Be-Well has developed and manufactured meals for Adventure Nutrition and they were the only meals to receive a 5 star rating by Trail Magazine. Their large range of meals provide balanced nutrition for all levels of outdoors activities and are successfully tested worldwide and a favourite of Adventurers, Expeditions Explorers, Schools and Young Persons award schemes.
Austrian Alpine Club (UK)
The AAC (UK) distributes funding to mountaineering expeditions run by its members if it considers such expeditions to be relevant to the Club’s aims and of a worthwhile nature. This funding has been entirely donated by our members for this specific purpose. We are particularly keen to support small independent expeditions run and manned by younger members in the early stages of their mountaineering careers.
Scottish Mountaineering Trust
The Scottish Mountaineering Trust was established in 1962 by the Scottish Mountaineering Club. The primary object of the Trust is “to promote and secure the health, education and recreation of members of the public by fostering among them knowledge of the geography, topography, meteorology, biology and geology of and proper technique of movement within mountainous regions of Scotland or elsewhere and an appreciation of their beauty and by affording opportunities for enjoyment of these regions.”
Transglobe Expedition Trust (TET)
The Transglobe Expedition Trust (TET) is a charity, which was established in 1993 to perpetuate the memory of the Transglobe Expedition by supporting humanitarian, scientific or educational projects which follow in the expedition’s tradition of adventure and perseverance. This tradition was described by its patron HRH the Prince of Wales as: “Mad but Marvellous”.
Scott Polar Research Institute – Gino Watkins Memorial Fund
The Gino Watkins Memorial Fund, under the joint trusteeship of the University of Cambridge and the Royal Geographical Society, gives grants towards expeditions that meet its objectives of guiding and inspiring enterprising young people towards scientific research and exploration in the Polar Regions.
The Arctic Club
The Arctic Club promotes interesting, innovative and adventurous expeditions in the Arctic, particularly for young people. Each year they give an Arctic Club Award and financial support to one or more expeditions.
Mount Everest Foundation
The MEF aims are to encourage and support expeditions exploring mountain regions, and both education and research pertaining to a wide range of subjects in mountain areas.
The John Muir Trust – Bill Wallace Grant

The Alpine Ski Club
Memorial Adventure Fund is to support ski touring and ski mountaineering by assisting ski mountaineers to undertake expeditions and tours which are considered worthy of encouragement and help.
The Jeremy Willson Charitable Trust
The Jeremy Willson Charitable Trust (JWCT) is a charity set up in tribute to and memory of Jeremy Willson. The charity helps people and projects that reflect Jeremy’s passions in life: athletics, geology, adventure and the environment.
British Mountaineering Council
The BMC has limited funds available to provide grants for international expeditions. Support is focused primarily on younger climbers/mountaineers and those for whom the grant would make a significant difference to the viability of their trip.
The Institute of Mechanical Engineers are committed to developing, inspiring and encouraging engineers at every stage in their career, with practical, financial help. Molly is a Chartered Engineer and won a Special Purpose Award towards her expedition leadership and her contribution in conducting scientific research to enable more accurate models for measuring climate change.
The Richard Overall Trust
This Trust was set up in 2001 in memory of 20 year old Richard Overall who had Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. He was an inspiration to everyone who had the privilege of meeting him. The Trust has helped and will continue to help young disabled persons with financial support in order to enjoy and progress in their chosen sport.
Wicked World Tours
Wicked World Tours has benefited from the generous donations of supporters who believe that disability should not prevent people from travelling. The charity has set up a Grants Programme and invites people with disabilities to apply for money to help them undertake adventurous travel.
Douglas Bader Foundation
The Douglas Bader Foundation are generously supporting Jesse to achieve his goals in the “can do” spirit of Sir Douglas.
