Climb the highest mountain in the UK. Taking the trail from Glen Nevis up to the top of “The Ben” is a tough walkers challenge. Once on the Summit the views are unrivalled and it’s steeper north face revealed.
If you’ve always wanted to have a go at this challenge but don’t have the confidence to try it yourself or perhaps you’re working your way through the three peaks but would like a guide for Ben Nevis then this is the course to book.
The day can be tailored around your goals whether that’s to get to the top and back down again as quickly as you can or to take a more leisurely view.
What routes are there up Ben Nevis?
I offer a variety of routes to suit every level of ability:
Most people opt to walk up the ‘pony track’. This runs from the Ben Nevis inn, in Glen Nevis to the summit via the red burn, zig zags and summit plateaux. It features a track all the way to the summit however the top section is covered in snow for much of the year. This can make navigation difficult and many people get lost trying to ascend this way each year. This route still deserves respect despite being the easiest way up!
An alternative approach is to traverse the complete horseshoe taking in the summits of the Ben and Cairn Mor Dearg (CMD). This ascent is long and should only be booked by fit hill walkers. It does feature a spectacular narrow ridge between the two mountains and fantastic views into the hidden North Face of Ben Nevis itself. It’s a route I’d recommend for experienced hill walkers.
There are also many routes of world renown on the spectacular north face. Names such as Tower Ridge and Ledge Route are whispered in pubs with exciting tales told of narrow arêtes, large cliffs and amazing scenery. These routes require experience of mountaineering and scrambling to complete successfully and safely – because of this I offer them as a different course with a maximum of two clients. Book my Munro Scrambles course to do one of these routes.
Accommodation is not included as part of this course.
* Price is based on a minimum of two people booking onto the course. If you’d like a guaranteed course to run or one to one instruction please book my single day Munro(s) course instead.
